An administrative question?

Certificate, report, invoice, general question or rescheduling an appointment? Ask your question here. No medical questions via this form: please call the secretariat for those.

Practical

Good to know before you come.

What a consultation costs, what to bring and how to reschedule an appointment. Is your question not listed? Check the frequently asked questions or call the secretariat.

What does a consultation cost?

Dr Lavrysen is accredited and not under the national fee agreement (non-conventionné). In addition to the statutory fee (set by RIZIV/INAMI), you pay a supplement of €36.26 on top of the patient co-payment. If you are entitled to increased reimbursement (verhoogde tegemoetkoming / intervention majorée), you do not pay a supplement. Your health insurance fund or hospitalisation insurance sometimes covers part of the amount.

This is how we deliberately free up more time per patient: a thorough conversation, a careful examination and a tailored treatment plan, supported by specialist neurosurgical nurses. Questions about costs or reimbursement? Feel free to call or e-mail us.

What should you bring?

Identity card, referral letter, list of medication, previous reports and all imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray) on USB or via a secure link. Images from AZ Rivierenland and AZ Zeno are available digitally.

Rescheduling or cancelling an appointment?

Let us know at least 24 hours in advance, by phone or e-mail. That way another patient can be helped sooner. If you do not let us know, a flat fee will be charged.

How long does a first consultation take?

Allow 20 to 30 minutes: conversation, clinical examination and review of your imaging. Please arrive ten minutes early for registration.

Certificates and reports

Reports are sent automatically to your GP. Certificates for work, insurance or sport can be requested via the neurosurgery secretariat; allow a few working days.

Frequently asked questions

Practical

Do I need a referral letter?

It is not compulsory, but a referral letter from your GP or specialist speeds up the process and often contains useful information about previous treatments.

Can I send my imaging in advance?

We can view images from AZ Rivierenland and AZ Zeno digitally. Bring images from other centres on USB or share them via the radiology department's secure link; an ordinary e-mail with images is not secure.

How do I know if my symptoms are urgent?

Sudden weakness in an arm or leg, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the saddle area or a sudden, very severe headache: go straight to the emergency department or call 112. If in doubt, call your GP.

Does Dr Lavrysen have a waiting list for operations?

Scheduling takes place after the consultation, in consultation with you and based on urgency. The secretariat will call you with the date and the preoperative appointments.

Is an appointment reimbursed?

Yes, the statutory reimbursement from your health insurance fund applies as for any specialist consultation. Only the supplement is paid by the patient, except for those entitled to increased reimbursement. See practical information.
